Not unrequited

She holds out her arms -
To comfort you when you’re blue

She holds out her arms -
A ragdoll needs love too

Little Miss Know it all

You stand there, so young, so wise
Watching the world through mocking teenaged eyes

Mother dearest

There's nothing like shopping for dulling the spirit
Making you realise that comfort food has a price
That it's not just your mother's smile you inherit
When you can't fit into your usual size

Rivalry

I would not like to be only and lonely
But sometimes being a sibling's no fun
When you are constantly wound up, looked down on
Tickled, punched, teased, chinese burned, overruled and outrun
When your doll is a victim of horseplay
and teddy's arm comes off when your brother plays ball
Given the choice of being an only or sibling
Well...
I wouldn't change it at all*

*(but my teddy might)

The Contest

"Ring!"
The bell goes
Seconds out
He adjusts his costume
Nervous
Sweat drips into his waistband

"Ring!"
Referee
Stands aloof
Eyes fixed on the event
Ready
To intervene when needed

"Ring!"
Figures move
Strangest dance
They spar and clash with words
Duelling
They fill the time allowed

"Ring!"
Speed date ends
Couples split
To write secret scores in peace
Wait now
To see if someone liked them
